Merc 300GD from 1984. Back in the days when the G was a fairly basic vehicle rather than what it became. Haven’t seen one in ages. Looks immaculate.

Other things seen so far are a Peugeot 404 estate and a Volvo P1800ES but couldn't stop.

I wonder how parts for an old g would be. Plentiful? Hmm....possible good importable value?

Tons of private import old Gs on the west coast, mostly 4 doors though, and 90s era.

It’s not bad, many of of them have the same 5 cyl diesel found in the W123 cars so not hard at all. We have a guy in Marin here who runs a thing called the G Wagon Preserve. He has a single cab with a flatbed he built from parts and he is friends with a Mercedes mechanic who has a shop here so they have kept some old ones maintained. One guy near me has a green early 80's four door. So many were built, I doubt it’s hard to get parts.

Yes, there are quite a few armies with those. I think Merc still make the old G for military use
